The team visited with the Town Acres fourth-grade reading class and read stories to the group. In addition, the students read to the players during their time at the school.
“It was more than just sitting down and hearing them read. It was an opportunity to invest in the lives of youth that will grow into the future of our community,” said red-shirt sophomore Ben Holt, who hails from Knoxville, Tenn. “It meant a lot to us, and I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.”
This was the second volunteer project for the men’s soccer team in the last two weeks as they volunteered for the Appalachia Service Project this spring.
The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics takes pride in its community service activities and strives for 100 percent participation from its student-athletes, coaches and administrators throughout the year.
